A recent study revealed that consuming walnuts may help people maintain healthy eating patterns and reduce their risk of heart disease. The journal Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases just recently published this study.

The results imply that those who consume walnut daily experience several health advantages, such as reduced weight gain, a higher caloric intake, and a lower risk of developing heart disease.

The data for the current observational study was collected from the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) study, which began in 1985 with a group of over 5,000 participants and is still ongoing today. The research team looked at data for 3,023 CARDIA participants, of whom 352 consumed walnuts, 2,494 other nuts, and 177 did not.

Experts stated that walnuts are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. They are devoid of sodium and cholesterol and abundant in healthy fats, antioxidants, and a number of vital minerals. It has been observed that one way they lower the risk of cardiovascular disease is by reducing triglyceride levels and decreasing plaque formation.

Researchers discovered that walnut eaters had a superior heart disease risk profile, including reduced body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, blood pressure, and blood triglyceride levels, upon analysis of physical and clinical measures after 30 years. They also demonstrated that walnut eaters had healthier diets overall, lost less weight, tested with lower fasting blood glucose concentrations, and engaged in more significant physical activity.
